Lombard sculpture show looking for artists

Artists with ties to DuPage County are invited to participate in the third annual DuPage Invitational Sculpture and 3-D Art Show.

Sculptors and 3-D artists should apply by March 1 for the show that runs 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 7 in Lombard’s Lilacia Park, 227 W. Parkside Ave. The show is part of the village’s Lilac Time celebration.

The show is open to artists who were born, reside, work, or go to school in DuPage and who practice in the arts of indoor/outdoor sculpture and multidimensional works.

Organizers say they welcome established artists as well as student artists from area high schools and colleges. Special participation fees are in place for student artists younger than 25.

Entries for indoor and outdoor works will be accepted. Each original design must be a minimum of 2 feet in any direction; only 18 inches in any direction for high school students.

Works will be juried and judged, with prize money awarded to the top established artists and scholarships awarded to the most outstanding college and high school artists.

Last year, more than $4,000 in prizes and scholarships was awarded. Dignitaries from DuPage communities and businesses will be invited to attend the event and may consider the art for purchase.

Event details can be found in the application and participation packet, which may be downloaded at dupagesculpture.org. To receive a packet in the mail, call (331) 645-3992, e-mail info@LombardArtsCoalition.com, or write the Lombard Arts Coalition at P.O. Box 506, Lombard, IL 60148-0506.
