More than 640 flights canceled due to storm
More than 640 flights at O'Hare and Midway airports were canceled Tuesday due to winter weather conditions.
Snowfall continued into Tuesday evening with totals reaching 6 inches in some parts of the Chicago area. More than 5 inches fell at O'Hare International Airport, which faced nearly 600 cancellations and delays reaching more than an hour throughout the day. Midway had more than 40 flights canceled and also had most flights in and out of the airport delayed about 45 minutes, according to the Chicago Department of Aviation.
Lake effect snow is expected to continue early Wednesday in southern Cook and Will counties.
The aviation department is urging passengers flying out Wednesday morning to visit their airlines' websites to check the status of their flights before leaving for the airport.
