Hoffman Estates reports few problems caused by winter storm

Despite the almost 20 inches of snow fell that on Hoffman Estates in the blizzard that hit town Tuesday, village staff said they’ve experienced few problems in the community.

“We’ve had no major problems on village roads,” said acting Public Works Director Joseph Nebel.

Public Works crews were working 12-hour shifts to remove snow from the roads and village officials were keeping St. Alexius Medical Center officials apprised of conditions on Higgins and Barrington roads. Snow forced the closure of Barrington Road for part of Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Garbage collection was postponed Wednesday for the area near village hall as a result of the storm, but will take place Thursday.
