Mayor investigating South Barrington road conditions

South Barrington contracts out for snow removal, and an unhappy Village President Frank Munao has asked Police Chief Michael Deegan to look into why service was so inconsistent.

“I don’t see a pattern of why some would have been plowed and another not, other than they’ve been neglected,” he said Wednesday afternoon after taking an hourlong trip around the village with Deegan to assess the snow’s impact.

He found some subdivisions plowed multiple times, but neighboring ones ignored.

“I find anything from bad to good,” Munao said.

Munao said he wishes the village had more control over the plowing. His trip, in a four-wheel-drive vehicle, started at 11:30 a.m. and ended around 12:30 p.m. He said county roads were in excellent shape, except for Bartlett Road from Algonquin to Higgins roads, which he called terrible.
