Cut services before raising local taxes
Cook County property taxes are on the rise as property owners can tell you. The taxing authorities — as soon as the November election and second-half county tax bill arrived — started seeking increase in tax levy for the coming year. Property owners may see reduced assessments (not likely), but their 2010 tax bill is sure to increase.
Taxing authorities need curb expenses as opposed to seeking new revenue in increased taxes. It is very easy to ask others for increases because it is not their money. If they did their job they would look to cut expenses first and foremost. And I mean really cut expenses. Members of all authorities need look at it as if it were their own business.
Citizens do not need all the services that have been supplied over the years, we cannot continue on in this manner. If so, taxpayers need have a tax revolt. I am not going to take it any more!
