Carpentersville to hold budget talks

The Carpentersville Audit and Finance Commission has set February and March meeting dates to discuss the 2011 budget year, which begins May 1.

Paul Humpfer, chairman of the commission, encourages any and all residents to come.

“I think people should know where their money is spent,” Humpfer said. “If they have ideas of where we can save money, we're going to be open to hearing them.”

The commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 and 22 as well as Mar. 8 and 22 in the large conference room of village hall, 1200 LW Besinger Drive.

Humpfer said the plan is to go through the budget section by section within each department. Residents can ask questions along the way or contribute ideas.

“There's a number of things that we're going to have to consider to balance our budget,” Humpfer said.

Extra copies of the working budget will be available at each meeting for anyone who is interested.

Once the commission concludes its discussion, the village board will hold budget hearings before the final budget is approved in the spring.
