Lake Villa Twp. seeks artists for 'Art on a Bench'

Local artists are invited to submit sketches for “Art on a Bench,” the first public art exhibit presented by the Greater Lindenhurst-Lake Villa Fine Arts Council and the Lindenhurst-Lake Villa Chamber of Commerce. This community program will give businesses, schools, libraries and government agencies in Lake Villa Township and surrounding areas a vehicle to attract thousands of visitors and art lovers in 2011. Currently, the program has a call out to artists and is also looking for sponsors.

“This is a great collaboration between the Lindenhurst-Lake Villa Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Lindenhurst-Lake Villa Fine Arts Council,” project coordinator June Goss said. “We have the Lake Villa Township Boy Scouts building sturdy benches and local artists will be painting the benches. We plan to have the benches displayed throughout Lake Villa Township before a gala public auction in November of 2011. Proceeds from the auction will go to local charities.”
