Fox Valley’s Vaughan Center may reopen Tuesday

The Vaughan Athletic Center in Aurora will remain closed until at least 9 a.m. today when an air quality test will be conducted.

The center, at 2121 W. Indian Trail, was evacuated at 9:15 a.m. Monday after a worker had an adverse reaction while mixing chemicals.

Several other patrons also felt ill and were treated at the scene, Aurora spokesman Dan Ferrelli said.

Fox Valley Park District spokesman Jeff Long said if and when the center opens today will depend on the results of the air test.

Officials still are trying to determine what chemicals were mixed and were in the process of ventilating the building on Monday afternoon, Ferrelli said.
