New Smart Cards available at train stations

New Smart Cards, compatible with daily fee machines recently installed at the Naperville and Route 59 Metra Stations, are now available. Residents and commuters will have the opportunity to exchange or purchase a new Smart Card from 5:30 to 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at the Naperville Metra station and from 5:30 to 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26 at the Route 59 Metra station.

During the Smart Card exchange and purchase event, residents and commuters will have the ability to:

• Exchange an existing Smart Card for a cash refund of the total balance.

• Exchange an existing Smart Card balance for a new $10.00 Smart Card, compatible with the new daily fee parking machines.

• Purchase a new $20.00 Smart Card, compatible with the new daily fee parking machines. Cash only; credit cards will not be accepted.

Commuters taking advantage of this event are encouraged to allow extra time during their morning commute since the Smart Card refund, exchange and purchase process will require additional time.

Those who are not able to participate in the Smart Card event may visit the Naperville Finance Department, located at 400 S. Eagle St. The Finance Department will be open until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25 through Thursday, Jan. 27 to accommodate commuter schedules.

The City of Naperville recently installed new daily fee parking machines at the Naperville and Route 59 Metra stations. In order to improve the level of customer service provided to commuters, the new machines have the ability to accept cash, credit card (Visa and MasterCard only), and Smart Cards.
