Naperville driver comes forward in shoe store crash

A 23-year-old Naperville woman accused of crashing her car into a shoe store turned herself in Sunday morning, police said.

Kathryn Miller, of the 1000 block of Fairway Drive, has been charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident after police say she drove her 2007 Mini Cooper into the Shoe Carnival store at 304 S. Illinois Route 59, and then drove away.

Miller called police just past midnight Sunday morning and told police that she fell asleep at the wheel.

The accident happened at about 2:20 a.m. Saturday. Surveillance video shows the car crashing through the window and damaging its front right side.

Police had sent out a release Saturday seeking information about the accident.

Naperville police on Sunday did not say whether Miller had posted bond.
