Free HIV/AIDS testing

The Lake County Health Department will offer free HIV testing from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at three clinic sites on Monday, Feb. 7: Belvidere Medical Building, 2400 Belvidere Road and the Grand Avenue Health Center, 3010 Grand Ave. Health Center, both in Waukegan; and, the North Chicago Health Center, 2215 14th St., North Chicago.

The testing coincides with National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, an HIV/AIDS testing and treatment community mobilization initiative designed to encourage African Americans get involved, get educated, get tested, and get treated. African Americans are about 8 percent of Lake County’s population but represent nearly 43 percent of all HIV/AIDS cases, according to the health department.
