Budzban: Be the best you possible

By Annettee Budzban#147;For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they #133; comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.#148; #8212; Corinthians 10:12 (KJV)

Many have been affected by the economy. My family has suffered as well. One of my sons lost his home, another lost his business and another lost his job.

But one-by-one they are getting back on their feet.

When we suffer hardships we have to make sure that we don#146;t find our worth and value in the fact that we have a job or what kind of work we do.

We all have worth and value. But sometimes we can allow the rejections of life to beat us down and make us feel less worthy. We start to make comparisons with how good we think others have it.

During those times, it#146;s important to accept ourselves and our situations and know that although we#146;ve suffered loss we are still valuable to God. We each have special, unique qualities that no one else possess. And God loves us unconditionally.

The biggest thing that can pull us down is making comparison#146;s with others #8212; Scripture informs us it#146;s not a wise thing to do. Why? Because it will take us off course for our lives and just make us feel worthless.

When I find myself doing this, I tell myself, #147;I will not compare or compete, because in Christ I am complete.#148;

That means God created me as a unique individual and believer in Jesus Christ.

As we look at ways to become successful this year, why not start with succeeding at being ourselves?

Here#146;s a few tips I#146;d like to share with you to keep in mind to strive at being your best self.

1. Start to notice when you#146;re thinking or saying something negative about yourself. Stop and think about ways you can turn that around.

2. STOP comparing yourself with others. It doesn#146;t matter where you live, what you drive or the work you do #133; God has a plan for you.

3. Think past your limitations. Ask God to help you think of creative ways to move forward.

4. Learn to cope with unconstructive criticism. Have the courage to be unique.

5. Remind yourself often, God loves you and has a good plan for your life.

Let this be the year you continue to work on your self-image. Examine what needs to change to get into God#146;s good plan, but, on the way there, learn to succeed at being yourself.
