St. Charles teens charged with damaging parking lot

Two St. Charles teens remain in custody on felony charges after police say they, along with a 16-year-old, caused more than $1,000 in damages to a city parking deck.

Police say that surveillance tapes in the parking deck on the 100 block of Illinois Street in St. Charles show three teens spraying graffiti on walls and ripping out drywall in the structure on Jan. 11 and 12. The damages cost the city $1,083.

Jeremy A. Almodovar, 18, of the 1600 block of Riverside Avenue and a 15-year-old St. Charles boy were charged with felony criminal damage to state supported property, according to police. A 16-year-old boy was charged with felony defacement of property. Almodovar was also charged with theft by possession.

Police reviewed video tapes and interviewed a number of the suspects’ peers before making the arrests Jan. 21.

Bail was set at $25,000 for Almodovar, who remains at the Kane County jail.

The 15-year-old was released to his parents until his next court date and the 16-year-old is still being held at the Kane County Juvenile Correctional Center.
