Glen Ellyn Kiwanis present Key Club with official charter
Glen Crest Middle School sixth-grade social studies teacher and sports coach Craig Hofmann achieved the goal he had for students. It was to provide a way for the middle school to become involved in service projects that needed enthusiastic volunteers to help them provide a better life for people in DuPage County and even in the world.
Hofmann formed the Glen Crest Builders Club, patterned after the Key Clubs in the high schools that are sponsored by area Kiwanis organizations. Since September, the Glen Crest Builders Club has accomplished many service tasks and gained a reputation for being enthusiastic and conscientious volunteers. Listed among their successful volunteer experiences are working at Feed My Starving Children, at the Humanitarian Service Project in Carol Stream, helping out at the DuPage Forest Preserves, and planning activities for the seniors at the Meadows in Glen Ellyn. Hofmann stated, We have at least two activities for The Builders to participate in every month until the end of the school year.
The Glen Ellyn Kiwanis joined The Builders Club on Monday, Jan. 24 for a celebration of their success as a service club. Kiwanis member Glenn Scott presented Hofmann and the club with a charter from the Kiwanis making them an official middle school Key Club.
Glen Crest Principal Todd Schrage congratulated the members of the club and Hofmann for achieving the goal of providing volunteer service for organizations in the county.
