Water fills Geneva building after pipe bursts
A Geneva firefighter returning from a routine burst pipe spotted a much bigger leak while passing by a shuttered day care center Tuesday night.
“As we went by we saw water flooding out of the front door,” said Lt. Kevin Forest of the Geneva Fire Department.
The crew stopped to check out the scene and found around 2½ feet of standing water rising inside the former site of the La Petite educational day care center on the 2400 block of Fargo Boulevard.
There was nothing in the building when the firefighters arrived just before 6 p.m., but Forest said a pipe and three sprinklers burst.
A damage estimate was not available Tuesday night.
