Lake Bluff man arrested on child pornography charges

A Lake Bluff man was arrested Saturday on child pornography charges, marking the 17th arrest in a statewide crackdown announced in August.

Ian O'Donohoe, 39, was charged with two counts of aggravated possession of child pornography and three counts of possession of child pornography, according to the Illinois attorney general's office.

The arrest is part of Attorney General Lisa Madigan's Operation Glass House, which was launched in late August to target the state's “worst child pornographers” by tracking their IP addresses.

“These offenders are trading images online and, even worse, videos showing children who have been horribly abused and victimized,” Madigan said.

O'Donohoe's bond was set at $75,000.

“The same technology used to download and send out these illegal images is now being used by my investigators to track and arrest these offenders,” Madigan said.

As of Jan. 3, investigators saw 5,000 Illinois IP addresses trading child pornography images and videos across the state, according to the attorney general's office.
