Community Bank of Elmhurst presents '¡Three Amigos!' at York Theatre
Local organizations unite as the Community Bank of Elmhurst presents a special screening of the 1980s comedy “¡Three Amigos!” with all proceeds benefiting the Elmhurst Children's Assistance Foundation. The fundraiser will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 9 at the York Theatre, 150 N. York St. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students and children.
The foundation's goal is to assist families who have a connection to, or reside in the community, where a child's life is impacted by a serious medical or disabling condition. As unpaid medical expenses mount, it is able to provide financial assistance. Over the years, the foundation has donated specialized wheelchairs, medical beds, chair lifts, therapeutic bicycles, speech therapy sessions, relief from unpaid medical bills, and much more to children and families in the Elmhurst community. In the 1986 film “¡Three Amigos!” (PG), Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Martin Short star as three silent film actors who play a heroic trio on the big screen. Fired after they demand a salary raise, the out-of-work actors leave Hollywood for Mexico where they believe they are shooting a new film. In reality, they have been mistaken for real-life heroes, summoned to help by a girl who saw them in a movie. What they find south of the border is no fairytale, but a real life battle between a tiny Mexican town and a local bandit and his gang. Hilarity ensues as the amigos realize there's no director calling cut on this set. Bravo rated the film at number 79 on its ranking of “100 Funniest Movies.”
Tickets can be purchased at the door, through ECAF, or at both Community Bank locations in Elmhurst: 330 W. Butterfield and 133 N. York.
