Voting starts on 'Dancing with Geneva Stars'

Whether the dance couples are ready or not — and they do have a month to smooth out their routines — the voting began in earnest Monday, Jan. 3 for the 2011 “Dancing with the Geneva Stars” event.

The Geneva Cultural Arts Commission will present its annual fundraising event on Saturday, Feb. 5 at Eagle Brook Country Club in Geneva. The event raises funds for the arts commission and the Geneva Academic Foundation. Votes at $1 each can be placed for the dance couples on the genevarts.org website, starting Jan. 3, or through return envelopes that will arrive with invitations to past attendees.

Reservations for the event at $35 per person can also be obtained online, starting Jan. 3. Voters can place as many votes as they would like for their favorite couple, and the couple with the most votes, thus raising the most money, will be declared the winner of the event at the conclusion of the dancing.

Those competing include:

• Anne and Matt Cesarone performing salsa — Anne is president of the Geneva Academic Foundation and project manager for Advanced Telecommunications and Matt is an account manager for Allegient Systems.

• Jane and Peter Cladis performing waltz — Jane is a member of the Geneva Park District Foundation Board and Peter is a physician with Fox Valley Family Physicians.

• Amanda and Adam Law performing cha-cha — Amanda is a nurse practitioner and Adam is principal of Heartland Elementary School in Geneva.

• Jeanne and Donald Cummings performing tango — Jeanne is an American Airlines flight attendant and Don is owner of Blue Haven Capital and a member of the Geneva Public Library board.

• Nancy and Ralph Dantino performing swing — Nancy is a day care provider and has been active in the Geneva Academic Foundation and St. Peter's Barn sale, and Ralph is the Fifth Ward alderman in Geneva.

• Therese and Steve Davison performing paso doble — Therese and Steve are the owners of three 7-11 stores in the area, and are active in the Geneva Sports Boosters.
