Libertyville’s newly remodeled library, by the numbers

Patrons have been flocking to the Cook Memorial Public Library in downtown Libertyville since an extensive remodeling and expansion project wrapped up this month.

One woman even showed up a day before the official Jan. 8 public opening, apparently ready to get a jump on the library’s programs and selections.

Here’s a look at the $7 million project and the overhauled library, by the numbers.

1: public meeting room, with space for 50 people

3: self-checkout stations

4: computer stations in the young adult area

47: parking spaces outside

110: full- and part-time employees

172: seats available for patrons

5,204: DVDs in the children’s collection

8,796: CDs in the adult collection

44,200: square footage of the building, including an 11,200-square-foot addition.

143,362: books in the building
