Nothing peaceful about barking dog

In response to a letter from Mr. Boyle of Des Plaines: These people are all neighbors to one another. A good neighbor is a considerate one and tries not to interfere with one’s peace and quiet.

Although we do have to tolerate something from one another and we usually do, when it comes to a barking dog it is hard to ignore.

A dog’s bark is meant to be heard. A dog’s bark is meant to get your attention. If you have ever witnessed chase dogs going after their prey, you can hear their bay for miles.

Dogs can bark all day long. I have witnessed this from my own home. I have neighbors that leave their dogs outside for the neighborhood to listen to. One neighbor takes his dog from the house to the chain, where he barks until he comes back in the house.

It is possible to train a dog not to bark and bark only when needed. It sounds like this man is going to get the training his dog needs. This will help the relationship of the neighborhood.

Spring is around the corner... we’ll be opening our windows to let in that nice, clean, fresh air along with the songs of the barking dogs. When was the last time you heard someone say, “My neighbor’s barking dogs made me fall asleep like a baby”?

I don’t know, but maybe here’s a new adage: “Listen for an hour with my ears.”
