Police, FBI seeking robbery suspect in Villa Park

Villa Park police and FBI officials are looking for a man caught on surveillance cameras robbing a branch of West Suburban Bank, 40 E. St. Charles Road.

In an FBI news release, officials described the man as Hispanic, appearing to be in his 20s, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium to large build. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a hat that appeared to have a Los Angeles Lakers logo, Villa Park police Lt. Mike Lay said.

The suspect escaped on foot, and a witness told police that he entered an off-white, two-door vehicle to make his escape.

Police say he walked into the bank at about 2 p.m. Tuesday, handed a teller a note announcing the robbery and said he had a weapon.

Lay said residents should not approach the man, as he could be armed.

Anyone with information about the robbery should call Villa Park police at (630) 834-7447.
