Giving an American hero his due

Naturally, I and my fellow citizens have spent today immersed in the tragic news of more senseless violence and death in America. And although I in no way wish to downplay the tragedy or by any means ignore it, I do wish to shine a light on a news story that may have garnered more attention in a less hectic news cycle.

America lost a great hero, who not only fought the fight, but in print and in film brought that history back to us.

Some men wonder if they mad a difference in their lives, men like Dick Winter and his band of brothers were certainly not troubled with such ponderings. They made the biggest difference and the greatest sacrifices to preserve freedom and liberty.

A more honorable mission I know not of.

So here's to you, Richard Winters, you and your beautiful Band of Brothers — the battling boys of Bastogne!
