Flexible floor plans prove popular in Pingree Grove
With the wide selection of floor plans available at Carillon at Cambridge Lakes in Pingree Grove, active adult buyers 55 and older can choose from light and airy open floor plans as well as those that are more traditional. While open floor plans are popular with a variety of buyers these days, it is wise to consider the pros and cons when making a purchasing decision.
“Many of our buyers are coming from more traditional homes that they may have owned for a long time,” said Paul Ivers, president of Cambridge Homes. “When they see the open floor plans featured in so many of our home designs, they are delighted with the open, airy feeling and flexibility to define spaces in accord with their needs. Carillon at Cambridge Lakes offers something for literally every active adult who desires the lifestyle of a recreational community.”
Two popular floor plans that are offered as both detached and attached single-family homes illustrate some differences. Both the Beethovan and Haydn include two bedrooms and a den, kitchen and breakfast nook, living and dining great room plus two-car attached garage.
In the Beethovan attached or Monte Carlo detached single-family home with approximately 1,718 square feet, the den is located off the foyer and is open to the great room. The optional sunroom shown in the model is also open to the living area, although it may have a decorative archway.
The Haydn attached or Four Seasons detached single-family home has a more traditional feel in about 1,669 square feet. The living room and dining room great room area is open to, but set off from, the kitchen and dining area by a half wall. The den features a traditional doorway and walls, and the optional sunroom is separated from the living area by arched half-wall openings.
“Buyers should consider the way in which their home will be used when deciding how much privacy they want to build into it,” Ivers said. “The open plans look large and live large yet if you have one person using the den as a home office, perhaps a more traditionally enclosed den works better. Open floor plans invite more creativity with furniture placement and in many cases define the use of the space. There are benefits to each type of home, and Cambridge Homes provides the flexibility to tailor the floor plans for more or less open room arrangements. For example, the Beethovan (Monte Carlo) may have optional French doors to make the den more private, if preferred. In addition, both of these home designs have master suites well separated from the second bedrooms which are served by hall baths and are ideal for overnight guests.”
The Resort Series includes seven single-family floor plans as large as 2,322 square feet. In the larger homes, walls separate the formal rooms from the informal living areas. The Resort Series may have optional basements and three-car garages. Base prices range from $236,000 to $270,000, and the Four Seasons mentioned above is priced from $246,900, while the Monte Carlo is priced from $252,000.
The Composer Series of attached single-family homes includes four floor plans priced from $197,000 to $205,000. The Haydn is priced from $203,000 and the Beethovan is priced from $205,000.
The Bayside Series of ranch townhouses features four designs, ranging in price from $139,000 to $153,000. Eleven model homes representing the various designs are open for viewing, and the community blends one-level living with freedom from exterior maintenance chores such as lawn mowing and snow shoveling.
Cambridge Homes includes Energy StarR technology in all its homes built after March 1, 2010. This means that homebuyers can enjoy more comfortable interior environments while potentially saving hundreds of dollars on heat and air conditioning costs each year.
The resort lifestyle at gate-guarded Carillon at Cambridge Lakes centers on the approximately 18,000 square foot clubhouse. The clubhouse features indoor and outdoor pools, hydrotherapy spa, exercise and locker rooms, craft, card and billiard rooms, wireless computer lab, library and three banquet rooms. A large gathering room with an impressive fireplace is an inviting setting for social events.
