Police: N. Aurora residents caught with $22K in drugs

Two North Aurora residents are behind bars after narcotics agents searched their residence early Tuesday and found roughly $22,000 worth of cocaine and marijuana, authorities said.

The North Central Narcotics Task Force, acting on a warrant, arrested Jeanette M. Baum, 30, and Michael E. McGregor, 42, just before 8 a.m. Tuesday at a house on the 100 block of North Lincolnway Street, said Bill Backus, director of the task force.

Approximately 8 ounces of cocaine and 2 ounces of marijuana were found in the residence along with more than $10,000 in cash and drug packaging materials, Backus said.

The two, who were living together in the residence, were arrested without incident.

Both McGregor and Baum were charged with manufacture or delivery of between 100 and 400 grams of a controlled substance, according to Kane County jail records.

McGregor was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2003 for delivery or possession of between 100 and 400 grams of cocaine, according to court records.
