The skinny: Going by the standings as well as the Pomeroy rankings, these are the worst teams in the Big East. They’re also the league’s most mismatched teams as the Blue Demons play faster than anyone and the Bulls play slower. Power forward Augustus Gilchrist, who just put up 20 points and 10 rebounds at West Virginia, paces USF with 13.2 points and 6.6 rebounds, while Ohio State transfer Anthony Crater contributes 4.4 assists per night. DePaul’s trapping defense, which hasn’t forced many turnovers in Big East action, could make headway against a Bulls squad that averages 16.2 turnovers per game. Freshman power forward Cleveland Melvin has led the Demons in eight straight games, but he’s coming off his toughest night in that run as he went 4 of 13 against Pittsburgh.
