The skinny: Want to be a college hoops player? The Cats missed classes Wednesday, then enjoyed a long bus ride from Iowa and needed to make their Thursday classes after getting home about 2:30 a.m. Then they practiced Friday morning (missing classes) and hopped on the bus for East Lansing. This is a long way of saying the Wildcats, who took their NCAA-mandated day of rest Thursday, didn’t have much time to prepare for the Spartans. However, these teams met Jan. 3 in Evanston and few adjustments are necessary. Juice Thompson led a late rally in that one, but MSU emerged with a 65-62 win. John Shurna’s sprained left ankle feels approximately twice as good as it did that night, so that should be a boost for NU. Thompson, by the way, needs 4 assists to break Pat Baldwin’s career record for assists.
