Simon: Brady is 'step back in time'

The Democrat running for Illinois lieutenant governor is calling Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady "a step back in time."

Sheila Simon only referred to Brady as "the Republican candidate for governor" while criticizing him to a large crowd of women who attended U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky's big annual fundraiser Friday in Chicago.

Simon blasted Brady for not supporting women's issues and for opposing constitutionally protected rights that Simon says she holds dear as a woman and a mother.

A state senator from Bloomington, Brady opposes abortion even when a pregnancy results from rape or incest.

Simon and Gov. Pat Quinn are challenging Brady and his running mate, Jason Plummer, in the November election.

The Brady campaign did not immediately return calls for comment.
