Meadows residents volunteer as reading partners for Glen Crest Reading Lab

Reading teacher Cindi Baker coordinated a program with The Meadows Retirement Home in Glen Ellyn and Glen Crest Middle School.

The Reading Partner Project has been in effect for three years and the middle school students enjoy the time spent with their senior citizen partners as much as the seniors enjoy working with the students.

The topic for the month of January is the weather and the books that the students read to their partners focuses on snow and winter weather.

The Meadow resident volunteers spend an hour with the students twice a month. The first visit for this month will be Monday, Jan. 10 during the afternoon classes. For information about this program, contact Cindi Baker at the Glen Crest office, (630) 469-5220.
