Geneva’s defense gets back on track
Geneva 55, Elgin 7: One night after allowing 81 points in an overtime loss to St. Charles East, Geneva completely throttled the Maroons in Upstate Eight River Division play by holding them scoreless in three of the four quarters.
Sami Pawlak spearheaded the offense attack for the Vikings (7-3, 4-1) with 14 points. Eleven different players scored for Geneva, which led 19-0 after one quarter and 29-7 at halftime.
St. Francis 40, Aurora Christian 31: St. Francis outscored the Eagles 25-16 in the second half to earn the Suburban Catholic Conference Gold Division victory.
Hannah Dean tallied 9 points to lead Aurora Christian (5-4, 1-2) while Alyssa Anderson netted 7. Natasha Brown contributed 5 points and grabbed 18 rebounds.
Kate Slattery led the way for St. Francis (3-6, 2-1) with 12 points while Aly Germanos added 9.
St. Charles North 62, Larkin 26: Alex Silverman nailed four 3-pointers and St. Charles North (2-8, 2-2) won its second straight.
Silverman finished with 14 points and Natalie Winkates scored 13 (with three 3-pointers) as the North Stars took a 19-5 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.
