Senior earns highest Eagle Scout ranking
Submitted by Julie Bonefas
Shaun Bonefas, a senior at Lake Zurich High School, recently received the highest honor in Boy Scouts: the rank of Eagle Scout. The ceremony was held at St Francis de Sales parish in Valker Hall, with windows overlooking Shaun’s Eagle project of a new fire pit for the parish. The fire pit can be used during mass proceedings or for teen gatherings.
Shaun used over 90 volunteers to complete the project and solicited donations for all of the plants and stones used. All of the volunteers, as well as Shaun’s friends, family and mentors, were invited to the Eagle Court ceremony to watch Shaun receive his honor.
