Old House New House Home Show returns to St. Charles
Homeowners tired of shoveling snow can head out to the latest incarnation of the popular Old House New House Home Show in St. Charles for a barrel of rain instead.
Show organizer Laura McNamara said every exhibit space at Pheasant Run's Mega Center is sold out for the weekend show, which runs Friday through Sunday.
Daily workshops are part of every afternoon at the show and included in the $7 ticket price. Jack Pizzo of Pizzo & Associates will present a workshop the show has never featured before.
"His presentation is about rain barrels and designing landscapes that can capture rain water from a downspout, and choosing plant selections that can thrive in our ecosystem," McNamara said.
She said Pizzo's presentation is part of the show's mission to educate homeowners on the remodeling and redecorating process before beginning a project without the right tools or skill set.
"One reason why people really love to see this is because it's the latest innovations," McNamara said. "It's everything from kitchens, bathrooms, room additions and basement remodeling to build a new home."
The show will also feature information about how homeowners can take advantage of tax credits to fund energy-efficient home improvements to windows, roofs, insulation, furnaces and air conditioners.
"There are some very generous tax credits out there," McNamara said. "It's a practical time for homeowners considering doing those types of projects."
The show runs 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. A complete list of vendors is available at kennedyproductions.com
