VNA Hospice in Aurora welcomes all the Holiday Memorial and Tree Lighting

Submitted by VNA Hospice

VNA Hospice invites community members to their 18th annual Holiday Memorial and Tree Lighting Ceremony at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in the hospice sanctuary at VNA Health Care, 400 N. Highland Ave., Aurora.

The holidays can be a time of joy and festivities, but for those who have lost a family member or friend, the holidays can also be a time of profound sadness. VNA Hospice will once again open its doors and hearts to those looking for comfort during the holidays. The guest speaker will be the Rev. David R. Engbarth, pastor at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Aurora. Names of those being honored will be read during the candle lighting ceremony. Personalized memorial ornaments are available for a $10 donation to VNA Hospice. The ornaments will be placed on the tree during the ceremony and will be available to take home after the service.

“This beautiful ceremony is a celebration of the lives of the ones we have lost,” said Matt Merges, VNA Hospice chaplain. “It offers our families a time to honor and remember their loved ones and offers our staff a way to honor the patients who have left a mark on our souls.”

Refreshments will be served in the hospice sanctuary at the conclusion of the service. To RSVP or to purchase a memorial ornament, contact Matt Merges at 630-978-2532, ext. 8038 by Friday, Nov. 30.
