Broadway in Chicago announces spring season

Broadway in Chicago's announcement Thursday of its spring series means familiar tunes echoing throughout the theater district, where a new 25th anniversary production of "Les Miserables" kicks off the season on Feb. 2, 2011.

Highlights include the Pulitzer Prize-winning "Next To Normal" about the impact a woman's bipolar disorder has on her husband and children, and the Tony Award-winning revival of "Hair."

Also on tap: "Working," the musical inspired by Studs Terkel's book which begins Feb. 15 at the former Drury Lane Theatre Chicago, renovated and re-christened the Broadway Playhouse; "The Merchant of Venice" starring F. Murray Abraham; and Carrie Fisher's solo show "Wishful Drinking."

Off-season specials include "Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles," featuring look- and sound-alikes performing the Fab Four's catalog, and the return of Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater's "Spring Awakening" and "Disney's Beauty and the Beast."
