Amenities should only be added as funding is available.What, if any, new ethics-related rules are needed for the county board and county staff?In my opinion, ethics rules are best implemented and enforced by the Human Resources Department of Lake County government.Government transparency has been an important issue in recent years. Name one thing the county government or forest preserve district should do to improve transparency.Under the new County Board Chair's direction, a number of things have already been added to both websites to improve transparency. It would be my opinion that Mr Stolman will add more items as they are brought to his attention.Should the forest district use eminent domain to acquire the land needed for the final link in the Des Plaines River Trail? Why or why not? If your answer is no, how should officials go about acquiring that land sooner than later?The Des Plaines River Trail is a fabulous asset, used by many residents. Eminent Domain should only be used as a last resort. Property owners should first be approached with a realistic market value for their holdings. Conversely, inflated prices should never be paid using taxpayer money.What will be the biggest issue facing the county over the next decade, and how do you propose dealing with it?Infrastructure maintenance and reconstruction will be a great expense. While Federal funding is diminishing in some areas, every grant opportunity must be investigated and pursued to bring money into Lake County.
