Pool company earns award

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS - Downes Swimming Pool Co. won an international pool design award at the recent Association of Pool and Spa Professionals.

The Arlington Heights-based business earned the award for a 26,000-gallon pool that has a graduating 3- to 5-foot depth and was built in a subterranean level of a 40,000-square foot home.

The pool features 20-inch raised walls capped with polished hand-cut Valders limestone coping and a matching deck.
