Group discusses improving economy

The Illinois Fox Valley Society for Human Resource Management will meet Thursday, Jan. 21, at the Hickory Stick restaurant at Highlands Golf Course, 875 Sports Way, Elgin. Registration begins at 11:15 a.m., followed by a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. and presentation from noon to 1 p.m.

James T. Evans will explain how The River Valley WIB's Incumbent Worker Training Grant Program is authorized through the Federal Workforce Investment Act and the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2008.

This initiative is jointly administered by the River Valley Workforce Investment Board and the Kane County Department of Employment & Education to assist businesses in Kane, Kendall and DeKalb counties to maintain and improve economic competitiveness by providing high-skill training for their existing work force.

Bruce Olson, Department of Employment Security, will explain the many tools and services offered by The Illinois WorkNet Center.
