In defense of Burnett-Dane Funeral Home
My family was very saddened to read about the conviction of Marcee Dane and the investigation of her family's business.
The staff of Burnett-Dane Funeral Home offered great support and solace to my family three years ago in response to the death of my brother, Peter, who was killed in Belize where he worked as a high school teacher in a mission school. The Dane family's patience, kindness, and warmth kept us going during the hardest time of our life.
Additionally, their professionalism was invaluable in working to retrieve my brother's body from another country and to restore his brutally treated body as best as possible, solely for the viewing of the immediate family.
We especially remember the warm spirit and mature professionalism shown by Marcee Dane. In the recent event, Marcee made a terrible choice in the midst of an awful mistake; I can only think, there but for the grace of God go I. I would never want my reputation and my career possibilities, to be based on only one act, one choice, and I hope I wouldn't judge another person against that standard.
On behalf of my family especially my father, Peter N. Phillips I offer sympathy to all involved and ask for forgiveness and understanding for Marcee Dane and her family.
