Caterpillar adds IBM, Abbott Labs execs to board

PEORIA -- Caterpillar says it is adding executives from IBM and Abbott Laboratories to its board of directors.

The world's largest construction and mining equipment maker said Thursday that Jesse Greene Jr. and Miles White will join the Caterpillar's board in January.

Greene is the chief financial risk officer for International Business Machines Corp., where he has worked for roughly 30 years.

White is chairman and chief executive of Libertyville Township-based Abbott Laboratories and has been with that company since 1984.

Caterpillar Chairman and CEO Doug Oberhelman says both men will bring valuable experience to the Peoria, Ill. Company's board. Locally, Cat has operations in Aurora.

Greene will be part of the audit committee of Caterpillar's board, and White will serve on the board's governance committee.
