Fire leaves Antioch hot dog restaurant uninhabitable

An Antioch restaurant was left uninhabitable after a fire broke out Saturday evening, authorities said.

Antioch Fire Department firefighters called to Old Chicago Red Hots in the 500 block of Route 173 at about 5:20 p.m. Saturday arrived to find smoke coming from the roof of the single-story building, officials said.

The Fox Lake, Lake Villa, Newport and Salem fire departments responded to assist. Crews worked for about two hours to extinguish the blaze, conduct overhaul operations and put out hidden fires, according to the fire department.

No civilians or fire service personnel were injured in the fire and the cause of the fire currently remains under investigation.
