Police investigate death of restrained patient
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are investigating the death of a patient at Mendota Mental Health Institute.
Police were called to the facility last Saturday after a 50-year-old patient who had been restrained by staff had stopped breathing.
Paramedics' attempts to revive the patient were unsuccessful. Police say the patient was restrained after fighting and struggling with staff members.
The State Journal says the Dane County coroner is also investigating.
