Wind chill advisory in effect

It's freezing. Literally.

A wind chill advisory remains in effect in the Chicago area this morning, with temperatures standing at or below zero throughout the area.

Area temperatures fluctuated between zero degrees and 8 below zero with wind chills ranging from 15 below zero to 25 below zero. Aurora, of course, is recording the coldest temps at 8 degrees below zero and a windchill of 25 below zero.

There will be a little relief by the end of the day, though you may not notice it. Meteorologists said temperatures will rise to about 10 degrees, but windchills will continue to hover around 20 degrees below zero.

Anyone heading outdoors is urged to wear a hat and gloves to prevent frostbite and hypothermia, as well as put emergency blankets in their cars in case their cars break down.

Officials said it takes less than 30 minutes at zero degrees for hypothermia to set in.
