Teens charged in Sugar Grove car burglary
Two 18-year-olds were arrested this week and charged with a May 25 car burglary in Sugar Grove, police announced Wednesday.
Todd A. Koley, of the 12000 block of Ellen Drive in Genoa, and Angel L. Ruiz, of the 0-99 block of Meadow Drive, Cortland, are charged with burglary, according to police. The charges are felonies that carries a maximum prison term of seven years if convicted, though probation is also an option.
The two are accused of breaking into unlocked cars in the Windsor Pointe subdivision, including one vehicle in which a passenger window was broken to gain access and a purse stolen, Sugar Grove police said.
Police said they received on May 25 numerous reports of burglaries to vehicles that had been left in driveways. Most cars had been left unlocked.
Sugar Grove police said the use of a stolen credit card led authorities to the two teens.
Bail was set at $50,000 each for the two, meaning they must post $5,000 to be free while the case is pending. Ruiz is due in court on Thursday for a motion in which his attorney is trying to get bond reduced. Koley is due in court Tuesday.
Sugar Grove police said the investigation is continuing and more charges could be pending against the pair.
