Wine brunch set for Thursday at Gibby's
Ahh. It's time to take a breather.
You've bought all the school supplies, the lunches are packed and the kids are off on the bus.
Now, it's time to take a little time for yourself.
For a few hours, it's time to forget the endless hours carpooling to summer camps, the belly flop you did trying to impress your kids, and your hectic schedule over the summer, and still to come this fall.
Whether you're raising a glass in celebration that school has begun, or feeling sorrowful because your baby is off to kindergarten, there is a spot for you at Gibby's Wine Den in Geneva.
The Randall Road business, at 1772 S. Randall, Suite 200, is hosting a back-to-school brunch Thursday, Sept. 2.
At the event, you can enjoy a glass of wine, a mimosa or even a cup of coffee with a buffet brunch.
The cost of the brunch is $20 per person, and includes the buffet and one beverage off the menu for the day.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For reservations, call (630) 208-6424 or visit www.gibbys-wine.com.
Fun for the little ones: For those of you who haven't shipped all of your kids off to school, Borders Books has some fun events you can do with the young ones.
Every week, both the Borders along Randall in Algonquin and Geneva hold storytimes for children.
The Algonquin Borders, 2216 S. Randall, holds its storytimes at 10 a.m. every Monday morning.
Your youngsters will get to hear the latest or the greatest children's stories read to them. After the story, they'll also get to do an activity.
If you're ready for more, you can head south to the one in Geneva, 1660 S. Randall, which takes place every Friday morning at 10 a.m.
You'll also hear stories there, and the kids will get to do a fun activity.
The events are free and open to everyone.
People bring children of all ages to the event, from little ones who can't walk yet to preschoolers.
Cruisin': Even though school is in session, it doesn't mean summer fun is over.
The Culver's along Randall Road in Carpentersville is hosting its Classic Cruise Nights every Tuesday through Sept. 21.
The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at the restaurant, which is at 6000 Miller Road, just off Randall Road in front of Woodman's.
Along with viewing the classic cars, you'll also get to listen to a DJ playing cruising music, special food discounts and see awards for best car each month.
