Pihos will run for re-election

SPRINGFIELD — State Rep. Sandra Pihos, a Glen Ellyn Republican, says she’ll run for re-election in 2012, seeking a sixth term in the Illinois House.

“It is an honor to serve as state representative,” Pihos said in a statement announcing her intentions. “It is a position that I don’t take lightly and I would very much like to continue to serve in this capacity.”

Pihos now serves in the 42nd House District, which includes parts of Glen Ellyn, Lombard, Glendale Heights, Wheaton and Lisle, among other places.

Under the new 2012 political map, the borders of her district shift west and pick up more of Lombard, Wheaton and Lisle, dropping other areas.

Pihos is a former teacher and school board member who is the top House Republican on the Disability Services and Aging committees.
