Antioch library offers staff in-service training
Submitted by Becky Jacobson
The Antioch Public Library District closed its doors in order to provide a daylong training for its employees recently.
Training encompassed all areas of the library and focused on providing better service to library members. The day began with a team-building workshop facilitated by Dan Wiseman of Wiseman Consulting and Training.
The staff shared thoughts between departments, participated in a walk-through look at the library layout (through the eyes of its members), and reflected on possible changes that would enhance the overall use and feel of the library.
In the afternoon, during hourlong sessions, staff learned how to assist members in searching the new databases, as well as how to upload books and other downloadable content to their eBook, iPod or other electronic device.
The day ended with departmental meetings that allowed staff to address key aspects of specific services.
“Daylong trainings are essential in bringing staff together as a team,” Administrative Supervisor Cinde Debore said.
While the library provides training for staff as a whole and departmentally throughout the year, this semiannual day of training insures current and consistent training across the board.
The Antioch Public Library District is at 757 N. Main St., just one block north of the historic business district of Antioch on Highway 83.
