Libertyville marine gets hero’s welcome home
Marine Cpl. Paul Marqui received the rock star treatment Tuesday when he arrived home atop a Libertyville fire truck, and escorted by the Warriorswatch Riders, after completing a tour of duty in Afghanistan.
After being greeted by Libertyville Mayor Terry Weppler, his long journey home to Libertyville was punctuated by many hugs and kisses from family and friends, and members of the motorcycle crew that paved the way for him.
Upon his arrival, Paul’s parents, Joann and Peter Marqui, waved the American flag in the driveway of their Butterfield Road home to the sound of cheers for their son.
When asked if there were any special plans or parties in his future, Marqui, a 2008 graduate of Libertyville High School, replied, “right now, just some rest and relaxation.”
