Duo to perform at Indian Trails library
Discover the rich diversity and beauty of the music written by contemporary American composers such as Scott Joplin, Aaron Copland, George Gershwin and others as they are performed by the flute/piano duo of Carlyn Lloyd and Jon Warfel, 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the Indian Trails Public Library, 355 S. Schoenbeck Road, Wheeling.
The pair has performed in over 700 concerts throughout the country including recitals as part of the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago, and at the Judson Manor Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio.
Lloyd, flutist, performs regularly with many ensembles including Arianna, an ensemble comprised of flute, harp, violin and string bass. She has written arrangements of popular and classical music for her woodwind quintet, Quintuplex. Lloyd is a founding member of the Chicago Flute Club, and is listed in the International Who’s Who in Music, the Who’s Who in Entertainment, the Who’s Who in American Music. She owns Tri-L-Co Music, a company which engages classical chamber music ensembles.
Warfel, pianist, maintains an active performing schedule as both piano soloist and accompanist. He has toured the United States as piano soloist and has performed piano concertos with several Illinois orchestras. Warfel joined the faculty of Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, where he is director of choral activities and instructor of piano, and also teaches classes in music and the humanities. He now serves as assistant director of the Naperville Chorus and director of the Naperville Chamber Singers. Featured on symphonic pops concerts throughout the country with many outstanding orchestras, Warfel also serves as organist/choirmaster at First Congregational Church of Elgin.
Lloyd and Warfel will entertain library patrons with a selection of music by American composers during “American Made” 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the Indian Trails Public Library. Registration is required. To register or obtain information, call the library at (847) 459-4100.
