A dream come true for Batavia couple

Owning a small neighborhood diner has always been a dream for my husband Scott Beltran and myself, Terry.

Scott, a chef by trade, and I, an artist, have been a part of the restaurant industry for many years and knew what a long shot this would be. One never knows when an opportunity to reach your dream will happen, but when it does you have but one chance to grab it.

This is how our story began. While having breakfast one day at our favorite diner in Batavia, the owner came over and sat with us to chat. She said she was going to retire from the business and asked if we would be interested in taking over this wonderful place. She wanted to pass it on to someone who was the right fit. Not prepared to buy a restaurant in this crazy economy was not an option.

This was our shot, our dream and we had to grab it.

We renamed the restaurant Daddio's Diner and made it our own. It has been five years now and what a crazy ride its been.

Our diner is the “real thing;” a true neighborhood restaurant where everyone knows your name. We cook out in front on our flat top grill and if you're lucky enough to sit at our counter you can see our amazing cooks in action.

When you walk through the front door of Daddio's, you're greeted with a smile and handed a hot mug of the best diner coffee around. Our decor is authentic retro and you can sing along to the “oldies” while waiting for your meal.

Our menu consists of classic diner fare, where the portions are huge, the quality is the best and the choices are plenty. On weekends our specials are always fun and delicious with names like “The Godfather Omelet,” “Mr. Potato Head”, or the “La Bamba Skillet.”

We are open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch and are open for dinner Tuesday through Friday, and on Fridays we offer our “soon to be famous” fish fry.

This is a true family business. Our oldest daughter designed our menu and website, www.daddiosdiner.biz. Our youngest daughter helps on the weekends. We are located in downtown Batavia, at 134 W. Wilson St. We love being part of the Batavia community.

Owning your own restaurant is truly a combination of hard work, joy, fun, and stress all rolled into one. Being able to achieve your dream; “A Blessing.”
