Crash closes Algonquin Road

Route 62 in Barrington Hills was closed for more than four hours Saturday morning after a collision between a dump truck and minivan.

Barrington Fire Department Lt. Bill Brown, said the crash occurred about 8:10 a.m. on Route 62 between Old Sutton Road and Bateman Road.

The road was closed until about 12:20 p.m. as firefighters cleaned up about 80 gallons of diesel fuel that had spilled. Brown said the driver of the minivan was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with nonlife threatening injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured.

“There was quite a traffic jam for awhile, Brown said. Traffic was rerouted via Old Sutton Road.

Details of the crash were not immediately available from Barrington Hills police.
