Knoch Knolls fire actually helps vegetation

Daily Herald report

An eagle-eye pilot flying into Clow Airport alerted the Naperville Park District about 5 p.m. Monday about a small fire that had started along the mowed grass trail, about 100 yards south of the paved bicycle trail in Knoch Knolls Park. The total area burned was less than a quarter of an acre, and there was no additional damage to park district property. A statement released by the district Wednesday stated the fire will function like the district’s controlled burns, which help control invasive, nonnative plants so that native plants can thrive in prairie and woodland habitats.
